Where can I find a fumarole? What's Geyserite?

WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - Small Parts. Not for children under 3 years.

Make rotten egg gas, just as stinky as the hot springs in Yellowstone and the vents on the sides of active volanos. A fumarole is an opening on the side of an active volcanic vent that emits hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg) gas. Geyserite, also known as travertine, is formed when mineral-rich water boils under the ground, erupting into the air. Once the water is on the surface, it immediately begins to cool and evaporate, depositing a thin layer of minerals near the geyser. This happens several times a day and, over time, these thin mineral layers add up to large layers of rock called geyserite.

  • Includes all the materials for the activity plus a sample of geyserite
